Survival tips for the exam period

Exam season is here, and while the spring sunshine is tempting, it’s time to focus on studying. We’re sharing a few tips to help you tackle the challenges more smoothly.

Exam periods always come with significant pressure – stress and the desire to perform well can weigh heavily. But building a study routine that works for you can make all the difference. We’re here to help you do just that.

There are plenty of small tricks and tips you can easily incorporate into your daily routine to make exam prep more manageable. We also want to show how the library can support you along the way.

Study Basics

The first step is a bit of mental spring-cleaning and getting ready to begin. Go through your notes – even if you’re not ready to start memorizing yet, simply organizing them and gathering the required academic resources is a big step. Take notes, create flashcards, and organize your subjects in a way that feels logical to you. Don’t be afraid to use color and visual structure – it’ll help you recall the material later.

At the library, you can do all this in a calm, quiet environment. There are individual study booths and group rooms, so you can choose what suits you best – whether you prefer studying solo or with friends.

If you’re studying in the library, the resources you need are literally within arm’s reach. And you can also access our online databases from home via our website – perfect for when you can’t make it in person. We’re here to make sure you can always access reliable, trustworthy sources with ease.

If you ever have any questions – whether about how the library works, academic resources, or any of our services – don’t hesitate to reach out through our “Chat with a Librarian” service on our website. Our team is happy to help with quick and accurate answers.

Effective study methods

Once your notes are organized, it’s time to think about how you study. It’s not just about time – your energy is limited too.

One of the most effective techniques is active recall. Instead of rereading your material over and over, try to remember it actively – for example, using flashcards or question-and-answer sessions. This helps your brain store information more deeply and increases your understanding.

Another powerful method is spaced repetition – spreading your study sessions over several days instead of cramming in one night. Schedule short review sessions across different days. You can even make your own study timetable and follow it peacefully in the library’s quiet zones.

If you struggle to stay focused, try the Pomodoro technique: study intensely for 25 minutes, then take a 5-minute break. This keeps your attention fresh and prevents burnout.

Rest and mental recharge

Don’t forget the importance of rest and mental recharge! Even while studying, it’s vital to take breaks. A change of environment can do wonders. The library doesn’t just offer a peaceful study setting – it also provides opportunities to unwind: try our stress-relief coloring pages, or simply relax in the natural light and greenery of the space. If you feel like socializing, you can study with friends in our shared spaces.

And if you come across a book you’d like to take home, our self-service checkout stations make it quick and easy – and just as simple to return later.

If you hit a roadblock – whether it’s in finding academic sources, verifying credible materials, or creating citations – don’t hesitate to ask. Our librarians are happy to help, both in person and online.

At the university library, we aim to provide more than just books – we’re here to offer a safe, supportive, and inspiring environment for your learning.

We wish you a focused, balanced, and successful exam season! You’ve got this.
