Discover the University Library!

Olvasási idő: 5 perc

Autumn has arrived, and with it, university life has begun. With this blog post, we aim to help the newly admitted students of the University of Pécs get to know the opportunities offered by the university library.

Explore our buildings and services to make your studies easier. We have gathered some useful information to simplify your early days.

Registration – the first step

To use the library, you must personally register at the library you wish to access.

For the registration, you will need the following:

  • Identification document (ID card, passport, or driver’s license)
  • Address card
  • Neptun code

Registration is free for PTE students!

Once your library card is ready, you will have access to all the services of the PTE University Library and Knowledge Centre.

It is also possible to register online via the following platform, allowing you to remotely access the library’s subscribed e-databases and electronic journals. For other library services, please visit one of our libraries in person.

Loan – take books home

With a valid library card, you can start loaning. You can use the traditional checkout desk or the self-service checkout machine in the Knowledge Centre.

In your reader account, you can monitor your loans, even extend the due dates, and set reminders for when the books are due.

E-book reader and tablet loaning

PTE students, faculty, and researchers can borrow electronic devices at the 2nd-floor checkout desk of the Knowledge Centre. E-book readers can be borrowed for one month, extended once, and filled with content freely. Tablets can only be used within the Knowledge Centre and must be returned by the end of the day.

Useful tips:

  1. Using the Corvina catalog (OPAC): Search for books from home or on designated library computers, check their availability and call numbers for easy locating.
  2. Get to know the Knowledge Centre: Join our library tour or explore the building on your own to find the right literature for you.
  3. Databases: Use the library databases accessible from home for research and thesis writing.
  4. E-library: Access thousands of Hungarian and foreign e-books, which can be used without borrowing an e-reader, directly on the website after opening.
  5. Remote storage request: You can request books from storage online, and by the time you arrive at the library, they will be ready for you.

Get to know our group study rooms

In certain specialized libraries of PTE, group study rooms are available for free to members of the PTE community. These spaces are suitable for group study and collaborative project work. The rooms are equipped with the necessary furniture and technical equipment for comfortable studying.

Pécs University History Collection

In 2023, the University of Pécs celebrated the centenary of the relocation of Erzsébet University to Pécs. As part of the centenary celebrations, the permanent university history exhibition at Szepesy Street was renovated, showcasing the history of the university and its predecessor institutions from the medieval university founded in 1367 to the 21st century.

The new exhibition presents the history of the university faculties by discipline, the work of professors teaching here, student life, and scientific work. The university’s clinics and their healing activities also form a separate unit, enriched with medical instruments, photographs, and patient memories.

The Klimo Library and the Pécs University History Collection are maintained by the Historical Collections Department.
